Happy Friday All!
We had another great week of learning. As a class and individually we have been focusing on goal setting with the start of 2nd quarter. We had hearing and vision screenings this week, a preview of the bookfair, a visit from some 1st grade book buddies, and a Friday Wii reward for going up 12% on Math evaluate for the month of October!
In Math: We have been focusing on graphing, learning and creating the different types of graphs, and how to choose the correct graph. Chapter 6 math test will be on Tuesday.
In Reading: We are focusing our mini lessons on sequencing and now finding the different stages of plot in fictional text. They are also searching and using figurative language.
In Writing: We have been setting mini goals each day, for what we would like to accomplish. Students are finishing up their Camp Wyman drafts, which need to be ready to revise by November 3rd. We are also learning to use editing checklists to edit our writing.
In Science: We began Unit 2: Living things. We are focusing on the plant cell and its components.
Word Work: New lists have been sent out, they will have an assessment the end of next week.
In Social Studies: We are focusing on The First Americans.
Thank you for confirming conferences times. I am looking forward to meeting with everyone next week. Please let me know if you had an issues receiving your report cards. Next week, the book fair will be going on, DARE on Wednesday and students may wear a hat for our Diabetes walk, Halloween parties on Thursday, and No school on Friday.
See you next week!
