Weekend Update

Happy Friday all!
We had another fantastic week of learning.  eValuates are all finished for the month and most have been sent home so you can check out their monthly scores.  Please do not be alarmed if this first one is low, this one covers everything in 5th grade.

Math:  We finished Chapter 3 Math (scores were great, with a class average of 85%).  We began Chapter 4 today (one of my favorites) covering variables, expressions, and equations.  We will have another test on Oct.1st.

Reading:  We have begun reading groups and loving the new books in our guided reading library.  If you are interested to know you child's reading level, please shoot me an email and I will let you know.  We focused on finding the main idea, with supporting details.

Writing:  We wrote an On Demand piece this week, that we will use to see how far we have come in our writing.  We have also been focusing on the revising and editing process. Students have begun to polish their first personal narrative on their google drive.

Science:  We have been charting the weather daily and started on the water cycle.

Word Work:  New words will be sent next week, now that all levels have been sorted.

Social Studies:  We are wrapping up Chapter one with how the land effect people.

Please consider joining us the Sunday for Sunday Night Lights.  I have  a lot of Kennerly volunteers already, so thank you!!  This is a special event for Kennerly, in honor of Mr. Franzel's son Jake!

Have a great weekend!
Playing a little scoot this morning!
